Holy Trinity

 Holy Trinity will one again be encouraging you to support Angel Tree this year. Please see details below explaining their aims. Angel Tree is a scheme run by the Christian charity Prison Fellowship. It gives parents in prison the opportunity to send their child a present for Christmas and involves volunteers and prison chaplains working closely together to help these children receive some joy on Christmas morning. The volunteers receive information about a child’s likes and interests and buy each child a present, wrap them and post them in plenty of time for Christmas!
Christmas is a particularly difficult time for families when a parent is within the prison system. Often, children are too young to understand why their parent can’t see them or contact them and sometimes it may not be appropriate for them to visit their parent. Angel Tree aims to help children realise they are still loved and even through their parent can’t be there for them, they are always in their heart. Each present has a gift card attached that is written by their parent which makes their gift extra special. The parent can also decide if they would like to send a Christian story book as an extra present for their child to receive. Last year for just one prison, 110 children from over 70 families received a present, helping them to feel loved and cared for. Holy Trinity Church and St Mary’s in Worsborough have been supporting Angel Tree by donating money and specified gifts, as well as helping to wrap them. Their donations helped buy around half of these presents for children who would otherwise not have received one on Christmas day from their parent in prison. Both churches are supporting Angel Tree again this year and their donations are making such a difference to families at what is a very difficult time of year for them. Prison Fellowship would like to acknowledge the generosity and kindness of the congregation for everything they have done to support the cause. Thank you! Andrew Platts posted the following:- It was a privilege to play in such an excellent concert today in aid of Adele Fisher's daughter Daisy. Great cause, great band, excellent soloists and well led by Derek Renshaw. Also a big thank you to Rosey Somerset for organising it, Steve Chapman and his team at Elsecar Holy Trinity Church for providing the venue and assisting, everyone who helped and a full audience for their enthusiastic reception. All in all a very good do Please see the poster below for an event taking place at our sister Church.   The new issue of the quarterly magazine has now been published.
