An enemy? But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44 - NIV If we take this literally then most of us would find this command impossible to follow. Few of us, I think, have enemies. Nevertheless there may be people in our lives who are problematic e.g. neighbours, relatives, work colleagues. Christian love would have us treat them as a child of God no matter how they behave, treat them as you would have them treat you, and model a better way. Finally, pray for those who trouble you that they may seek harmony and peace instead of disagreement and friction. Pray also that God gives you the wisdom to see your own contribution to discord and grace to change.. Reverend Steve

Better than splendour and wealth How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! Proverbs 16:16 - NIV This verse is a reminder to us all that the accumulation of wisdom and understanding will make us much richer than any material wealth we might accrue in our lives can ever do. Wisdom and understanding will guide our thoughts and our actions and, ultimately, lead us to be more Christlike in character. Such wealth is lasting and not fleeting. Today, let's pray for God's spirit to come and aid us in our spiritual growth. Revd Steve VE Day is this coming Thursday when church bells will be rung all across the country at 6.30pm. To commemorate it we have our own display which will be available to view in church up until and including Thursday. See images below.
